My name is Jack Halperin, I'm a second generation General Contractor in the Bay Area and owner of Halperin Construction. My first construction experiences were on my dad's job sites off and on through high school and college. After college I worked as a carpenter for a couple years, then at D+H Construction (the Bay Area's premier multi-family affordable housing rehabilitation General Contractor) for 12 years including 5 as a partner. At D+H we did every type of multi-family rehab; matrix jobs with rapid unit turns, gut rehabs, building envelope replacements, electrification, dry rot repairs, HVAC and plumbing systems replacements and modifications, seismic retrofits (wood, steel, concrete/shotcrete) and extensive civil and site work. The projects had aggressive schedules, and budgets averaging $20,000,000, overseen by teams of owners, architects, owners representatives, lenders, and other consultants. I was variously a superintendent, project manager, senior project manager and owner; so I understand how to perform every project role. I was fortunate to learn the ins and outs of running a construction company and to work with great colleagues and project teams. Though the projects at D+H were always engaging, I got too far removed from the job site. My passion is for construction more than managing people, so I left at the beginning of 2024 to start Halperin Construction because I want to work with smaller project teams, and to work with my hands.
